Users do not control the font. A content moderator reviewing flagged usernames sees whatever font the moderation tool renders. If that tool uses a system sans-serif (Arial, Helvetica, San Francisco), Cyrillic homoglyphs are invisible. If it used Zapfino, every pair would look different. The Pokémon Presents stream on Friday included updates for many other games in the franchise, including the battle-focused Pokémon Champions (a modern spin on the likes of Pokémon Stadium).
